Pupil Premium
You may be aware the Government is providing schools with additional ‘Pupil Premium’ funding for each child that currently receives, (or has in the past 6 years received) Free School Meals (FSM) or children who have a parent/carer in the services or children in care. For the duration of their primary years, the school will be given additional funding to support the education of children who qualify for Pupil Premium.
Children in Early Year and Key Stage 1 are all eligible for Universal Free School Meals, but this is different from Free School Meals and Pupil Premium, which is based on income.
Eligibility
You child may be eligible if you get any of these benefits:
-
Income Support
-
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
-
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
-
Support under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
-
The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
-
Child Tax Credit (as long as you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
-

-
Universal Credit: if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get. This is also called the ‘minimum income floor’.) If your child is eligible for free school meals they will eligible until they finish the phase of schooling (primary or secondary) they are in on 31 March 2023.

Pupil Premium Strategy and Spending
Avanti Gardens School have determined how the Pupil Premium grant will be spent. Details of how we use Pupil Premium funding and the impact it has can be found here:
PE & Sports Premium
What is PE and Sports Premium?
The Government is providing funding directly to primary school headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children, the funding is ring-fenced and can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools.
Purpose of Funding
Schools will have to spend the sports funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this. Since 2013 the government has invested over £600 million on this funding. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on the provision of P.E. and sports in schools.
Ofsted Reports
On Tuesday 6th February and Wednesday 7th February 2024, Avanti Gardens School (AGS) welcomed a team of Ofsted inspectors for a full two-day inspection. We are delighted to inform everyone that the final Ofsted inspection report has now been released and we have been awarded a ‘Good’ rating by Ofsted. Inspectors rated AGS as ‘Good’ in all areas: The quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management and early years provision.
We are incredibly proud that the tireless hard work undertaken by everyone at AGS has been officially recognised and that our wonderful pupils have yet another reason to be proud of our learning community. This ‘Good’ rating is truly transformational for AGS; we continue our journey of improvement and growth in this upwards trajectory!

Ethos & Values
Our purpose is simple, yet profound: To inspire spiritually compassionate changemakers.
The Avanti Way is the route map for the Avanti family of schools It sets out our purpose and vision, to make clear our highest expectations and commitment to inspiring spiritually compassionate changemakers. Our beliefs are the foundations of our curriculum, pedagogy and ways of working and where our virtues of self-discipline, respect, empathy, integrity, courage and gratitude are lived out, experienced and developed. The metaphor of a Tree of Life presents the roots of spiritual insight, which strengthen the trunk of character formation, which in turn supports the crown of educational excellence and in giving back to our communities.
